Practice Cancellation and Inclement Weather Policy

The safety of our swimmers, coaches, and families is of the utmost importance to the Blue Springs Power Cats Swim Team. In the event of inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances, we have established the following guidelines for practice cancellations:

Blue Springs School District (BSSD) Facility Closures:

• If the Blue Springs School District cancels school or after-school activities due to weather conditions or other emergencies, the Power Cats Swim Team will also cancel practices for that day.

Misc. Blue Springs Power Cats Swim Team Cancellations:

• In some cases, the coaching staff may decide to cancel practice due to safety concerns, even if the Blue Springs School District has not officially closed their facilities. In these cases, the communication methods outlined above will be utilized to inform families of practice cancellations.

Monitoring Weather Conditions:

• It is the responsibility of parents and guardians to monitor local weather conditions and use their best judgment when deciding whether to send their child to practice during inclement weather.  If you feel it is not safe to drive to practice, then follow your intuition and stay home.  Although we would like our athletes at as many workouts as possible, safety is the number one priority.

Communication of Cancellations:

• In the event of practice cancellation, the coaching staff will notify all families through the following channels:

  • Email to the registered email address on file

  • Updates on the Blue Springs Power Cats Swim Team website

  • Announcements on the team's social media accounts

Make-up Practices:

• Make-up practices will not be scheduled for weather-related cancellations. Swimmers are encouraged to attend regularly scheduled practices to ensure consistent training and progress.

By following these guidelines, the Blue Springs Power Cats Swim Team aims to prioritize the safety of our swimmers while minimizing disruptions to our training schedule. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in adhering to this policy.
